SALINAS, Calif. - The Salinas City Clerk's Office tells Central Coast News that it has received two corrected petitions from a group that is looking to recall Mayor Joe Gunter.
City Clerk Patricia Barajas says the petitions had been rejected due to inconsistent writing in the paperwork submitted by the group.
Barajas says the revised petitions were submitted on Thursday, May 2. She says her office has not reviewed the documents as of yet, but that it plans on having a response to the proponents by Wednesday.
The recall petitions stem from drama that's been going on for months on the Salinas City Council. Councilman Jose Castaneda also sits in a school board seat for the Alisal Union School District. His supporters are the ones trying to recall Mayor Gunter.
